The Dorchester County Family Court holds exclusive jurisdiction over domestic and family matters under S.C. Code Ann. § 63-3-530. The court's jurisdiction is broad and covers the full range of family law matters that arise in a growing county. All cases involving domestic relationships or juvenile matters must go through the Family Court, not the Circuit Court or Magistrate Court.
